In the last few chapters they give Stanley a new nickname Caveman. Stanley finds a tube and promised to give it to x-ray so he had to give it to him. Stanley finds out that the warden is a woman and he writes his mother a letter. The warden makes them dig in pairs and she keeps making Mr Pendanski to fill the boys’ canteens. Stanley also finds out that there are mini cameras all over the place. Zero wanted to learn how to read and write. Squid stole a pack of seeds and Stanley said he ate them all. So Mr Sir takes him to the warden.

I find it really close to torture in war as I'm reading a book on Bravo Two Zero. It's about the British SAS eight man patrol that go into Iraq in the Gulf War. They get captured after being tortured by the environment and then get tortured even more by the Iraq police and army. Except for two or three who were injured too critically they were sent to hospital but the writer of the book was captured and tortured with lot's of different methods and I find it very much like Holes.
